Helping your baby to thrive with tailored, holistic support, getting to the root cause.

What is tongue tie and oral dysfunction and are they the same thing?

Tongue tie is a structural issue, where the lingual frenulum is restricted and therefore limits tongue movement and function.

Oral dysfunction alone, relates to the tongue not working adequately, most commonly due to oral tension, though sometimes alternatively due to low tone. Although not strictly a structural issue, it can present the same way as tongue tie.

Soon appointments will take place in my home office at PO203US.

Follow up consultation (90mins) £150.00

Post division wound check (30mins) £50.00

Group session follow up (20mins) £40.00

NB: At the time of writing this, I have completed Tongue Tie Practitioner Training, though am awaiting authorisation from the CQC before I start officially practicing. At this time I can support you with preparing for frenulotomy (tongue tie procedure) and post procedure support. For a division, I will refer you to another practitioner.

Babies with oral restrictions have often been compensating in some way, I aim to achieve the most optimal outcomes. Taking into consideration the surrounding muscular structures, tone and tongue space.

Depending on the assessment findings, it may not be appropriate to carry out a frenulotomy (tongue tie procedure) at your initial consultation.  Ensuring your baby is ready to receive the release at the most appropriate time.

Please bare this in mind as you’ll usually need another appointment, after doing the necessary preparation exercises, aiming for the most optimal outcomes.

How much follow up you will need really depends on what is going on for your baby. Some babies will only need one or two appointments. Others will need monthly appointments for some time, and this is where the group sessions come in, making it more affordable for you.
