Tongue Tie and Feeding

Unlock Your Baby's Comfort and Joy

Helping your little one thrive with expert care and support.

Navigating the world of parenting can be a rollercoaster, right? Especially when you’re faced with challenges like:

An unsettled baby, and not sure what else you could possibly do.

Feeding struggles despite following all the advice.

Worried about slow weight gain & constantly questioning if they’re getting enough? Despite feeding constantly.

Exhausted from a baby that never seems to sleep or settle?Despite trying everything.

Fed up of being told nothing is wrong, when every instinct in you says otherwise?

You’re not going crazy and I’m here to help.

I specialise in supporting babies and families with all of these things and more. Sometimes the cause can be hidden and sometimes it’s a case of looking at things from a different perspective.

As a holistic tongue tie and oral dysfunction practitioner, I take everything into consideration, supporting your baby as a whole. This means addressing any tension they’re holding in their body, which has an impact on tongue function and in turn can lead to problems like reflux, colic, digestive issues, unsettled baby, poor weight gain, struggling to meet milestones, feeding issues and more.

Your baby’s needs are unique, and therefore my approach is unique to them. This isn’t a one size fits all approach and this definitely isn’t a “snip the tongue tie and wave goodbye” approach either.

Sometimes a tongue tie division is needed, and other times the solution doesn’t involve surgery. It’s important to address the root problem and ensure adequate support and follow up going forward so you feel supported and know you’re in safe hands.

Whatever is going on for your baby, we will work together to find a solution.

Many parents experience these struggles, and at times get fobbed off and it’s why I offer a holistic 90-minute Initial Consultation. This service is all about understanding and addressing those pesky struggles, whether it’s caused by oral restrictions, other bodily struggles or challenges with positioning and attachment or feeding in general.

I’ll assess what the underlying problem is, carry out treatment like gentle exercises, and show you  techniques that will help you and your baby.   I can assess for a tongue tie or uncover if something else is going on. If your baby does have a tongue tie, NO tongue tie division will be carried out in this appointment. The initial consultation looks at solving the underlying cause of your challenges – and a tongue tie division is not always the answer. If a tongue tie division is needed, we will book in another appointment for this and I can  provide you with all the prep and post-procedure support you need.

I’ve seen firsthand how addressing these issues can transform your experience with your baby, from stressed out to peaceful. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want that? Plus, if you’re within a 10-mile radius, I’ll even come to your home for the consultation—no extra charge!

So, if you’re ready to tackle these struggles head-on, with specialist holistic support and give your baby the best start possible, I’m here to help. Let’s get started on this journey together!

If your baby does need a tongue tie division, I will support you to prepare for this, recommend where to have the division completed, and support you with post division support, as a snip isn’t enough on it’s own.

Success Stories:
From Chaos to Calm

Have you ever wondered if a simple consultation could change your baby’s world (and your life)? Let me tell you, it can! Imagine being supported in the way that you need at last, to help your baby’s unique needs and stop being gaslighted.

Take 5 month old Lucas, for example. His parents came to us, worried about his feeding struggles post tongue tie division on the NHS. After our initial holistic consultation, assessment and treatment plan, not only did Lucas’s feeding improve, his parents noticed improvement in his sleep and overall he was much more settled. This meant his parents could finally relax and really enjoy their little one so much more.

Or think about 3 month old Harper, whose parents noticed her fussiness during and after feeding, and had spent hours googling silent reflux and how to ease painful wind. With our guidance and support, we got to the root of the problem for baby Harper and things steadily improved going forward.  They had answers to their many questions and felt confident with how to support Harper going forward.

These are just a couple of examples of the many families we see every day, where small changes make huge differences.

What exactly is a tongue tie, and how can it affect my baby?

A tongue tie is when the lingual frenulum under the tongue is structurally too short or tight and affects tongue function. It restricts movement, making feeding and even breathing a bit tricky. But don’t worry, we’re here to help untangle those issues!

Great question! During our initial consultation, I’ll assess your baby’s oral function. If I find that a frenulotomy can help, I’ll guide you through the process. It’s all about ensuring your little one can eat, sleep, and thrive comfortably. But a tongue tie division isn’t always necessary and there are other strategies and techniques which can help significantly improve your situation.

We’ll discuss your baby’s feeding habits, assess feeding, and holistically assess your baby and their oral function, and explore any concerns you might have as well as carrying out a tongue tie assessment. By the end, you’ll have a clear idea of what is happening for your baby, a plan for the next steps and options for moving forward. Sometimes only one appointment is needed, often two and occasionally babies would benefit from more.

If your baby would benefit from a tongue tie division, this will NOT be carried out in the first appointment. Instead you’ll go away with a plan for how to optimise your baby’s tongue function in preparation for a division. You’ll be booked in for a Follow Up Consultation (cost £195) where a division can take place if appropriate.

Our holistic approach means that you’ll be supported until your baby’s tongue function is optimised.

The week after your appointment, you’ll be asked to send me a photograph or video of your baby’s healing wound and update on how things are going.

I will then reply, offering any recommendations.

If further support is needed, to ensure I can offer the best care, a Further Follow Up Consultation may be recommended or an invitation to a group session (subject to availability).

We know how challenging it can be to travel with a newborn/ baby, so we’re happy to visit you if you’re within a 10-mile radius. It’s all part of making this journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.

You’re never alone in this and we know that often up until seeking out our services, you have likely had a pretty stressful time. We offer follow-up consultations and even group sessions where you can connect with other parents. It’s a supportive community where you can share experiences and learn together. We’re here for you, every step of the way!
